“I met Robot-Binoculars on the starboard side of the Jeanne d’Arc helicopter carrier.
The humanoid met my gaze with his big curious eyes. He is a sentry, protector
of the ship; his strategic position allows him to constantly observe and monitor the horizon.”

The diptych is a portrait of a binocular optical device designed to observe objects from a distance, which the artist transformed into a robot. His unique perspective is shown via a short video played on a loop. Through his confused gaze, the robot conveys unsteady flows of movement, sharing his strange point of view of the world with us : through the unconscious and the unsteady, opening his gaze to the poetic light of the sea.

As for his dream, a mechanical bird appears from the depths of his lenses. Then it leaves the robot to fly away into the mysterious landscape of the Elbe river.
